It's hard to believe that we've spent another summer away from St. Aloysius, and another 8th grade class is ready to take their place at the top. This time of year is always bittersweet for me - on one hand I'm not ready to leave summer behind, but on the other, I'm always a little excited at the prospects a new school year brings. It's a chance to start over, to tweak lessons and activities, and most importantly, to get another opportunity to prepare over 100 young adults for the beginning of the end of their high school careers.
As I anxiously await the first day, I hope each of you will give me the chance to help you prepare for high school. Please remember that as much as I wish we could hang out in class every day, playing games and chatting with each other, I have a very important job to do: I have to prepare you for what you will soon face in high school English. You may not always agree or embrace my lessons and the things we do in class, but please know my objective is to make your time in high school a little easier, maybe a little less stressful.
I look forward to working with you this year. Although we will have good and bad days, our ultimate goal is to continually work toward the successes you will realize in the years to come. Welcome back, students.
